All About Pocket Knives

I ran across this knife while browsing ebay this evening.
The tang stamp says NEW YORK/KNIFE CO. in opposing arches with WALDEN in the middle. It is a dead ringer for a Schrade Sharpfinger (152OT).

I am wondering if this was an issue of Schrade to commemorate New York Knife? I have seen other knives that allege to be a NYK commemorative by Schrade, but I haven't seen a Sharpfinger that is so issued.

Can anyone else help me on this?

I think you best let this one go.

If I remember right he got his hands on lots of Schrade junked rejects when the plant closed. Then he messes with them.
I am sure you can see the Stamp is wrong.

That is why I think it is a reproduction, along with the pile side tang stamp of U.S.A.
It is just that it is a reproduction I am not familiar with & I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. The condition of the knife, the pattern of the knife, and the tang stamp all makes me think reproduction.
The pattern is a Schrade Sharpfinger (152OT) which was introduced (to the best of my knowledge) several decades after NY Knife went out of business. I am wondering if Schrade made it???

I wouldn't call it a reproduction, as NYK never made such a thing. I would call it a "fantasy knife". I, personally wouldn't touch it.

I have this seller on my "do not buy from list" with a note I wrote to myself that reads:
bought a Boker congress listed as mint condition - came with a chip in one blade and handle scuff
When I encounter a seller that does'nt care like this, I put them on this list and don't buy from again.
Anyone that wants a copy of this list, send me a note. It's a lot cheaper than playing knife ping-pong thru the mail.

Somewhere, in an old Schrade catalog, IIRC, I think I saw some Schrade knives stamped with NYK. There were few patterns & they were a special commemorative of NYK. What I do not recall seeing was a Sharpfinger pattern.

Maybe LT knows something about them.

Dale go to the thread on LT expert opinion ( I did not start the thread or name it ) it has some info i posted on these tang marks and yes Schrade also did a couple special issues using the tang. Here is the 75th boy scout jubilee with an NYK mark done by Schrade . there were a couple others but this should satisfy the point.

I see the tang stamps are different, so it brings up the question of whether Schrade did this special eddition with more than one stamping, or are we still dealing with a fake???

According to some info from a friend, there were some special editions made for SMKW by Schrade with the NYK stamping.

Just go to the thread ( LT I need your expert advise ) I posted a knife with the exact tang as the one for the 152 and explained it. Why have I become a secret friend? It is just little old me. LT PS there are several variations this one was used in the 80tys and 90tys . Funny years back I got a few of them probably at Schrade anyway I put a few on with an explanation of what they were. Then I got an email from someone demanding I tell him where I got them from since he had the rights. My response ( you know how I like people who make demands and threaten ) was very polite as I recall I even mentioned his mother. Seriously please Let me know if You need more clarification this really is pretty straight forward.
