All About Pocket Knives

It still needs alot of work, just got it in the mail yesterday from a fellow here on the forum. This is the first auto i've ever worked on. It didn't lock closed and wouldn't latch open real well, now it locks open and closed, but is far from finished.







It is tangstamped "Remington". I'm assuming this is what they call a "straightline remington". About when was this stamp used? Any history on the old gal would be great. It's a shame the small pen blade is broken off, I have an idea to remove it though, hopefully it'll work.

Late thirtys into the 40tys all made on contract by presto. apparently you are going to rehandle anything beside jigged bone will be a sure tell it is not original ( forget the cell unless you find another brand with good handles . ) also these had the model numbers on the blades so if you rehandle and it is not original (yours is cell) anyone knowing the numbers will know it has been rehandled even in jigged bone. the good news is that the small blade sometimes was not marked so since you need the small one what ever ( small auto pen ). you put in can look original. If you just want to mess with it then whatever you do is fine. I have a copy of the original specs how it is put together but you seem to know what is what so it is not needed. Here are some pics.

Thanks LT. looks like you've got some nice ones. It probably isn't gonna be easy finding another small auto pen blade, so I think I'll just do away with that blade altogether. It'll probably be pretty obvious that it isn't origional but oh well, it was fun getting it to run again at least, one remington ressurected, one to go.
