tiger lily--antique orange--bocote--snakewood--stag--blood red--elk--grape-- & dead skunk. these are not the toothpicks we usually think of when we remember "east dallas special" or "arkansas toothpick" but the construction is very sturdy & it fits the hand real well. slim profile allows easy pocket carry. the stag, orange jigged, blood red & snake all carry the heavier sabre grind. i think there was a rosewood & maybe a coupal others but this gives a good sample. hoping members will show some other examples.--HiPower

Yep, I want a grape one. I figure it'd be nice to complete the set of stainless 'picks. This elk was my 1st 'pick and I sorely wish I'd bought another before the supply dried up.

Yes I would buy more than one also. I know an AAPKer that bought 6 of them. He only has 3 left. He gives them a-way. Thats how I got one.

Here is a photo of the last 4. He loves the first one (left photo) and its the far right one lower photo. Thats the one I picked too, but he said no to that one....

He did send one to me....

these toooths are really tuff enough for most uses & would even do a deer if you took your time---perfect for trout.--HiPower

It was another antique amber but I had the scales replaced with desert ironwood. To my knowledge, GEC didn't make a stainless tooth with wood so I figured I'd get one made. I think it looks great and wish GEC used desert ironwood on their knives. I believe they had a short test run years ago but I guess they didn't continue using it.

trand you really have to like a knife to replace the scales on a folder.expensive project with one of the most cherished woods. have to admire your dedication to gec. i was looking at a bunch of old model "a"s "& "t"s plus a cherried out 55 chevy. all handbuilt frames & chromed spings & hemi motors & commented to owner they were too beautifal to sell. that ironwood tooth is in the same catagorey. did phillip dobson do the honors?---HiPower

True its not inexpensive but I really like GEC's 440c models and they offer so few varieties that sometimes its worth it to rehandle instead of getting another knife. These were done by Kaleb, aka Muskrat Man.

From my chair the 2nd one looks like Frontier Bone. I also have a 12 in Frontier Bone. The more you look at it in your hand the better she looks to me. Is your the same way ?

I wounder if its the size or shap of the handle that makes Frontier Bone look so good on these knives (12).

Fellows I have to agree with everything you have said, I've been a fan of the #12 since it came out...small enough for pocket carry yet enough blade to handle most chore's, just a neat knife....a while back I had a case of "pick fever"....but I found the cure...

hot damn bob i believe that's the best tooth collection i've seen . only the stainless grape seems to be missing, but i believe there were only 7 of those made. wish we had a clear rams horn in the selection. this knife surprised many people when they put in hand since that movement was a sensual tactile surprise.---HiPower

Nice collection. What do you think of the 2-blade t'pick jacks? Since they're thicker, I don't think I'd like them. Would like to see them take the main blade from the jack and make it up as a single blade t'pick though. Would also love to a stainless & ebony version.

I like the 12 pattern too, but I actually prefer the Powderhorn 2 blade model. Hey Bob; I've got that snakewood tooth you're looking for; no. 21 of 38 made in '09. Wanna trade?

Well I should have known...nice snake Barry, the one's I've looked at didn't impress me, same on the mammoth...Monk if I'd seen that one first I'd of jumped on it...you guys are just too fast for me.... ....you boy's know I except donation's for the "Toothpick Museum"...

Big, the acrylic they used on these 12's just didn't ring my belll so I stuck with the natural scale's...MM did the elk...

Beautiful knives all around, WB you know I love your collection.

I really connected with the #12 after a trout fishing trip, really a great knife for those chores. I feel that this pattern could handle a good day of work with ease, I just seem to baby it with a few trout here and there. Maybe I'll see what it does to a squirrel or two, but I don't know, lots of good ones for that.

Here's my trusty trout knife, a great, slim carry, with excellent F&F, and I love the stainless GEC uses.


And finally my new EDC soon to be. Someone didn't oil it well enough and it got a little rust, so I cleaned it up and theres a bit of patina left, no way to return it to it's original Mint condition, so in the pocket it will go.

Johnny, your Ryan Special is by far the coolest knife on this thread....
