All About Pocket Knives

I just received this knife, an Ebay purchase. After opening it, something didn’t look right. The master blade appears to have been tipped and reshaped. I know I should have noticed this in the pics but the seller described this knife as excellent and guess I just didn’t look close enough. To me a tipped blade in no better than a broken out blade. Should I just consider this as a loss or should I contact the seller and tell him this knife is not excellent. What would you guys do?

Hi, It is definately reshaped, confronting the seller all depends on how knowledgeable of a kinfer he/she really is. If they are quite knowledgeable I'd confront them about it becuase they knew the problem but failed to advise you of it. If they are not, they may not have known any better.

The pictures were plenty clear enough to easily see that it had been messed with, so I would just consider it a loss, they showed you what you were buying and you bought it anyway. I usually let pictures describe the knife more than the actual description, "a picture is worth a thousand words". Just my .02

P.S on another note you could further reprofile the blade into a nice little wharnecliffe and have one heck of a nice whittlin' knife!

it all depends on how you paid, how much you paid and how far you are willing to take it read the " COUNTERFITS " posting in the counterfit area, and do what you think is best. I would never accept something like that at any cost without at least trying to get my money back but thats just me...lol good luck

I just looked at this guys ad he does state a return policy, second after looking at 20 or so previous sales this guy know at least enough to know the blade was messed with so I would send it back and demand a refund, let him know people are watching, and if he gets a bad repuatation here he may loose a lot of bidders on future sales.

Excelend condition does not imply a reshaped main blade. I would push the issue he may do the right thing.

I don't think I would return it. If that thing walks and talks like it should, it would make a great user IMO. If you need a great user, I think it would be hard to find a better one for that price.

If you bought it for your collection, I think you could find better alternatives to put back and hold on to.

All just my opinion.

I paid $43.00 plus $6.00 shipping... I sent him an email so I guess I'll see what he does.

I would have to say that I agree with Muskrat Man. The pictures are very clear showing that the knife has been modified. The knife in the pictures was what you received whether or not it was described as excellent, it is as shown in the auction. I would stick it in my pocket and use it.

The little knife snaps like a new one and feels good in the pocket. I will pay more attention to the pics next time. It will make a nice carry knife.

This knife snaps violently. I cut my finger yesterday and my thumb today.
I am reshaping the master to be more like a wharncliffe. I think I need to take off a little more of the hump.

Is it just me or does the pen blade look to have been touched to a grinder before? I'd take a bit more of the hump out, and if you feel comfortable with it you could straighted the edge and re-bevel the cutting edge to make it a true wharnie.

Yes MM, the pen blade does look like someone might have used a grinder on it. The blade is thick so I might try to take out some of the waves.

PS...when do you want to fix my old Presto?

when do you want to send it? I've never done an auto before, would be some new tricks to learn

I could send it tomorrow if thats ok. I also have a dozen or so old clunkers , some with blades broken bad scales ect. Mostly cheapos but two with a decent remington blade in them. One of them is a switch blade with one blade broke. You can have them for parts if you want them.

That'd be fine, if'n you don't mind yours being my first auto. What'd be your price range ect? PM me with the specs of what you'd like. I'd love to have the parts knives, never have too many parts lying around.
