All About Pocket Knives

Hi out there in Knife Land,

I am a newbie just getting into the knife show circuit.

I have been to the Blade Show, Shot Show, the Harrisonburg, VA Knife Show and the NCCA Show in Mystic Conn, and will be at the Kentucky Cutlery Assn in Sheperdsville in October and the Easton PA Show in September ... I am also considering the Northwest Knife Collectors Knife Show in Kelso WA and have a conflict with Oregon Show in Decemebr.

Can any of you out there assist me in learning about more of the shows out there?

The best Knife Show, bar none, is the Spring Oregon Knife Collectors Assn show in Eugene, OR in April. It is very heavy with fantastic collection displays.

I agree thoroughly with Charlie's assesment of the Oregon Show. My only other suggestion is the Parker Show in Sevierville. I hear it may be moving somewhere but in the past it has been a really good show.

i will be going to the biannual queen knife show at the end of july, factory tour is only on thrus july 28th, knife show is 28, 29 30 and maybe 31st. you can also tour the great eastern factory while your are in titusville, pa.

since you are from ellenville, you must have a few prize schrades.

Hey Chet, are you going to GEC?
I highly suggest you make the little side trip, GEC is real close to Queen and if your at all into GEC, It's a blast.

hi johnny, i was at gec 2 yrs ago. very friendly and informative tour. and their tours are anytime you show up.. i didnt get to go to queen factory yet. i will go this year on thurs. i wasn't aware before that thurs is the only day for queen factory tour. they are only about 10 blocks from each other. tidioute is a good tour also. loads of cutlery history in those two towns. then you also have bradford which isnt too far away either. case doesnt have a tour but they do have their museum/shop open..great weekend for knife crazed people who will visit that area.
if your there, i will be the guy with buldging pockets and empty wallet.

I have a few Imperial Schrades in my collection. I work with a group from the old Scrhade Factory, and live amongst many huge collectors of Schrade, Schrade Walden, Napanoch, Grahmsville, Ulster and Schrade Cutco knives. We have folks that are building a museum to house their collections over here.

One of our members is Rich Langston, has been involved in the Wawarsing Historical Society and Knife Museum. Perhaps you know him?

In regards to your question about other knife shows:
As Charlie and Ray both mentioned The Oregon Knife Collectors Association show in April. It is said by many to be the “Best knife show in the world.” This year was the 37th annual show. The show runs 400+ tables each year.

If you want a table at the next show, you should contact Elayne or Dennis Ellingsen ASAP to get on the waiting list for a table. The tables are held for the previous year’s table holders until December. At that time if there are folks who do not renew their tables, they are made available to people on the waiting list. The show is a 3-day show and very well attended. People come from around the world for this show.

The December show is much smaller, about 50 tables, and is only lasts one day.
It is a really fun show, but much smaller than the April show.

I will take your suggestions about Oregon....and yes indeed I know Rich Langston ~ it would be difficult in my end of the world to be involved in the knife world and not have "bumped" into him. Rich is a real treasure trove over here and I've learned a lot from him.
