Removing a fixed blade pommel ?

I've got a KaBar hunter that I'm salvaging the bone scales off of, and would like to use the pommel, but can't get the dang thing off. (looks like the blade had been used to jump start something across a solenoid)

I know there are screw top, pinned, and peened pommel's I believe. I can tell you it's not screwed down, and I can't see a visible pin mark. Any ideas on what to try next ? I have a replacement blade all set up,........ if i can get this blasted thing loose !! ::dang::

I do Kabar's folder repairs and occasionally I'll get a fixed blade referral from them too. There are a few different methods that have been used over the years to hold pommels onto Kabar knives. If you'd like to send me a PM with a picture or PM me your email address, we can send some pics and start from there. Things like the model, age and materials make a big difference. If it requires a new pommel, I can usually get a little help from Kabar directly when it comes to finding the right parts, so get in touch and we'll take it from there.

Thanks Elvis !

Blades long gone, but it was 6" x 1", classic hunter design. I'm thinkin the scales are stag, but I've been fooled before. Brass hilt.
