saw these at the blade show, would love one with
black handles, even though it's made "overthere"

I've got one purchased by mistake (I meant to order the larger one). Overall it seems a very well-made knife. Fit is excellent. Finish on the handle could be a little nicer--they should have gone at least one grit finer when finishing the handle. Then again, it seems about as well-finished as any other sodbuster. I can't say how well it holds an edge, I've not used it yet.

As for being made "overthere" . . . It is as well-made as any of the new US-made knives in the $75-85 range that I've purchased this year. Better actually--no cracks in the handles, the blade doesn't rub or catch on the liner, or bounce off the backspring when closing, and there is no daylight between the liners and springs.

Read the portion you quoted carefully. I wrote, "as well-made as any of the new US-made knives in the $75-85 range that I've purchased this year." I did not state, "as good as any USA KNIFE in that range."

For January-June 2011, that would be a total of 9; if we go back 12 months (July 2010-June 2011) and expand the price range to $75-$110, it would be 14 (or 15 if I count the one I donated as a raffle prize). That covers 3 patterns by 3 makers. In two cases, I was just trying to get a single usable example of that pattern, in the third I was trying to get a group of six to have engraved as Christmas gifts for my brothers (and one for myself).

If you're willing to set aside your strawman arguments we can start a new thread and discuss it.

People are allways stating that these are AS good as USA knives allways compareing them to Case sode busters like they are the benchmark, for which sodies are as far as I'm concered and those russels arn't exactly low dollar knives my Case sodie jr 17.00$$ out the door GREAT buy GREAT knife NO comparison;;;just my .01$ Thanx The USA Strawman..PS I will admit they look pretty but if you have to work russels they DO NOT HOLD UP WELL ON THE JOB
