All About Pocket Knives

I was looking through some junk knives the other day and I found this badly abused Wadsworth folding pocket knife.

It had a locking master blade, where you would have to push down on the pen blade to release the master blade when in the open position, pretty clever.

I could not help but notice how beautiful the embossed nickle silver bolsters were. This added touch really makes an old pocket knife stand out.

I would like to see some more knife bolsters that others here may have

They need not be this fancy, this will be a good thread to see all the different styles various companies offered back in the day

I have never seen bolsters like that before, Dimitri. They are unusual to me, but I like to see them on a knife.

The bolsters in my photo are not something I see often either, but I like them also.

Of course they are not old, but from the skilled hands of Muskratman.

Great idea M.B. I always liked the big stepped bolsters that Boker used on the congresses that they made for themselves and for John Primble.

I wanted to show the stepped bolster on this Boker so as to agree with trail. I think it's a nice design.

A slanted a lined bolster on an inexpensive knife is always a plus. ...and...

If you going to line a bolster, do it with a neat line/lines, and pinch it while your at it.

The only non-everyday bolsters I can come up with: Boker USA and Aquila with shot shell pullers

First, a knife I bought today that was made a few months ago by GEC.
Second, 3 knives that are up to roughly 100 years old.

I would say these are 1. beautiful and 2. boring

I bought this one just for the bolsters...knife was made in the 80's but the bolsters are supposedly turn of the century.

This is one of my favorites for an American made knife

That stepped bolster is not the only nice one from Boker. Their barlows had some of the nicest bolsters around. The tree stamp (note the skinny tree - Blue says that means its OLD), the Boker Tree Brand insignia and the groove at the base add up to a fine looking bolster. And yes, this one has been rebladed with a Camillus spear.

The Colonial barlows may not have been the finest knives made, but the bolsters showed some class, with the script lettering and crimping.

My vote for the ugliest Barlow bolster - this particular model of Ulster.
