hehe, dosen't really belong in this part of the forums, but oh well. This is my first attempt at making a slip joint from scratch. ironwood handles brass liners and bolsters L6 spring and blade, half stop, easy pull and all that stuff. Nothin special or real purty, but here it is.

hey TTT,
Built in ohio, tang stamp will just be my usual engraved MM. Not even close to making them to sell. Reson being, finishes are not good yet, and I still have ALOT to learn when it comes to actually MAKING slipjoints, it was fun though, and may build more in the future

I have an electro-etcher. If you get a stencil made I will engrave it for you, no charge of course.
It looks great!!
After the first of the year I intend to do something like that myself. I have some nickel silver & brass for the bolsters so it shouldn't be hard to make.

Thanks for the kind offer Dale, Where would I get a stencil made, I wonder?
Good luck on your project. It isn't all that difficult, the hardest part is tuning the action to get it to lock up good and tight, and getting the holes in the right places. I'll shoot you an email.

IMG makes some good stencils that last a long time if cared for properly. $40 for the artwork, which stays in your file forever and I think it's $9.00 for the stencils. These are the plastic ones that can last for a lot of knives. They come in a set of 6 stencils to a sheet. Depending on the etch sysyem, they can be used for deep etching or a black mark.
EDIT: They need to be cared for properly to last a long time. Dependeing on the settings used they can be used a couple times to several hundred times each.

There are also some one use stencils that can be used on a typewriter or freehand writing.
