Who made the reproduction of this C. Platts KeenEdge big whittler?
Marked C. Platts Sons Eldred, PA
On back of tang of master blade it is date 1992

Howdy Tom,
Jim Parker owned this cutlery name back in 1992 & contracted Bluegrass Cutlery (AKA<----TRIVCA Cutlery) which in turn subcontracted Queen Cutlery to produce this knife as well as all the other Family Tree Classics back then, W.R. Case & Sons owns this Cutlery name now + all others related like Crandell, Standard & Kinfolks!

I guess I am too late on this one, but that's OK as the the answer is correct. I have owned this particular knife myself until I was able to obtain an original. Not the same pattern though. Nice knife no doubt

Some of the family tree marked knives were also made by Olbertz in Solingen for Parkers.
As others have noted, that particular one was made by Queen.

parker's latest list has a page full of these german made case family copies. fairly inexpensive. look for them on ebay as old "mint" examples.

This knife is marked on all three blades only with the Kinfolks script. No country of origin, pattern number, or date. Based on what knifeaholic said, and what Hukk has mentioned about the celluloid pattern, and finally, the matchstriker pulls on all three blades...I feel strongly that it is one of the Olbertz made versions. Why no country of origin...hmmmmm?

bill, i thought they were lightly etched on the back of a blade. easily removed. did you buy it new?

Yup, definitely made at the Friedrich Olbertz factory. Somewhere around here I have a Bulldog proto 3 blade stockman (3rd generation 1995) with the exact same ceolluloid pattern. Made in Solingen Germany.

GANG,
I realize that everyone that has posted here knows that these aren't original, but for others sake I would like to mention this. Some of you are not listening, you shouldn't even have to look at the tang stamps to realize that these are NOT originals. Stamp collectors can be easily fooled. Please don't get into the mode of only checking the stamp. Train yourself to read the whole knife first, verbally take it apart, then read the stamp. Not only do you read that stamp, but closely examine it too. Font, placement, condition etc. this is what is important, not that it says CASE TESTED XX therefore it is?????

Hi Johnnie,
I got the knife from Ron Ryder (Cutters and Collectors) because I was intrigued with the celluloid pattern and coloring. He said they were from Parker's, and never had a country of origin on them. We both agreed they could possibly be used to deceive new collectors, especially on a large stage like eBay.
