Woodman's Pal

I did a search and found the last time this was talked about was 3 years ago so I thought I would remind folks of this fine tool. I have the Premium Military model that has been sold to civilians for many years but it was also an issue item from WWII through Desert Storm and was called the "LC-14-B" or when included in Air Crew Survival Kits the "Survival Tool, Type IV". FM's were issued showing how the tool could be used for many tasks including a manual on fighting with the LC-14-B.

Mine has served with me both in the military as well as on numerous hiking and hunting trips. It has been used to make shelters, dig fire pits and cat holes, cut and split wood for fires, cleared brush, repair track on a M113 and even has served as an improvised climbing axe. Every few years it gets treated to new paint on the blade to help prevent rust, this last time I used Aluma-Hyde and ended up with a very nice finish. This tool is so versatile I think I would rather head out without a compass before leaving my Woodman's Pal at home.
