What could possibly improve a tl-29?

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. :D

Neat Joe!

I still hate those things after nearly losing an index finger to one somewhere out in the Tonkin Gulf.

I was trying to get a fastener to cam shut and lock and was pushing and twisting hard. The liner lock gave way and the punk folded on my index finger.

I "float checked" it. That is, I threw it over the side of the ship as far as I could, then went and got my finger sewed up.

After that, I ground the edge off that screwdriver blade on every one I carried afterwards. ::disgust::

I did a "flight check" on an old Barlow not so long ago, wullie! (Singin' now owns that Barlow ::nod:: )
(I have "flight AND float tested" many tools over the years also ::paranoid:: )

Great story, Wullie - I remember in a thread on rope knives a few years back you mentioned that they never issued you one of them, just those blankety-blank TL-29s, and someone said you must have looked like an electrician to the brass. Now we know why the deep-seated distaste for TL-29s! Seems like most of the old ones I see, somebody has tried to turn the screwdriver into a blade. If they read your story, they would understand, blade=blade, screwdriver=screwdriver.
