I dont speak or read the language. I found Hecho en Oaxaco on one, another has something about chili verde which is green chilis with pork ?

Nice to see something from Oaxaca, now that the political situation over there is tough, then again it's not so sweet in the rest of Mexico.

Here's my Oaxaca knife, by the well known Aragon family, the inscription is something like "If treated well I'll be noble". The background is my Oaxaca shirt.

Hey, Luis! Good to see a post from you, and I do admire that bowie. I enjoyed the links you posted for us. I have been half-fast looking for a good old Mexican Bowie, easy to find places like Ebay, but I have no idea how authentic they are.

Oh, my definition of 'authentic' would be a knife made in a knife making area of Mexico, for use as a knife, not a tourist item. One that has actually been used is all the better. And must have the inscription that so many of these have.

From the eighty year old son of an ex plumber who worked in the Salinas Valley of California. I retrieved those and 20-25 other odd and ends mostly knives from the box. There was one really nice gopher trap.

Hello, sorry I have not being around lately, busy with family and playing around with Linux, it's cool and seems better (and faster) than Windows (and free).

I believe the Aragon family in Oaxaca where I got mine is still working but there's been much political trouble over there and I can't find much info, they are mentioned here , but the page seems to be from 2004.

Jose Ojeda in Sayula, Jalisco (near Guadalajara) is well known for his work, in general more modern in style but hand made and probably some traditional designs too, here's a couple of links:

I would not know where to get them outside of Jalisco though, I have not seen them in Mexico City.

Hmmm look somewhat familiar, I hurridly snapped these with our digital camera, they are blurry and crappy, but very similar!

Here's a knife I picked up recently. I've been told it's a Mexican Wedding Cake knife. It's from Oaxaca, and I think it confirms by similarity that yours are.

Thats one nice looking knife. Looks as though when you are thru with the cake you could do the Ham or Prime Rib.
