Jim Taylor, a native of Sheffield, England, a fount of information on English cutlery, Bowie knives and American pocket cutlery, passed away this morning at his home in Florida.
I received an E-mail from his wife, Cindy, this morning. Apparently, he had been ill with a terminal illness for some time.
I always liked Jim, his black bowler hat and the knowledge he would so freely share was always a great help to me.
He will be missed by those that know him and Cindy.

A sad day indeed.Charlie:Do you have Cindy's contact info?If so could you PM it to me;I would like to offer my condolences.I used to see her and Jim at the NCCA meets in Connecticut and Massachusetts when I lived out east.Haven't seen them since 1992 but always enjoyed talking with them at the shows.
Jim always had a good word or a funny story to relate that only he could with his dry English humor(or is it humour?).He was a literal walking encyclopaedia of information on Sheffield knives and makers.He will be sorely missed.

Zed;
I tried to see if his passing had been posted on BritishBlades.com, but the new site would not allow me in. Are you a member there? Could you get the word out?
The last time I looked at the site, I saw numerous mosts by Jim, so I know he was active there.
Maybe Smiling Knife could do so.

Sorry to get this news. He was always a pleasant sight at the shows in his unique hat and, as you say, a font of information.

I looked on British Blades and found a mention on page 2 of "today's posts." It had 20 replies.
