thanks phil. you know the hunt is a big part of aquisition, but there are so many thieves out there and on a knife that's expensive(to me), you just have to be patient.

Thats one of the BEST 88's I have seen.

I also want to add thats a real good photo of it too.

Some day I will get to take photos that well too I hope.

Johnnie,

The Case Classic 88's that were produced & made by W.R. Case & Sons according to my Case Classic book, have the 1990 year Tang Stamping on the main blades, there are several other Case Classic 88's with 1991 & 1993 year Tang Stamping that I assume were made later by Queen but not real sure of the above information because this is not one of the Classic patterns I collect, ribbedbumpers (Gary) would know more on this knife! ....What I am sure of is that most if not all Case Classic 88 patterns are through the roof in market value right now & you would be hard pressed to find one in near mint condition with the box & COA for under $350!!!

that's a lot of beans. but a vintage case xx in mint condition can cost that much or more as well. i want a classic with natural handles but i can't decide which pattern. if i found the right 88 i would probably spring for it. my list keeps growing........

Hi Johnnie… That is a very nice 4 dot 88 you have there! I do like those dark red bone handles.. As Roger said I also like the the 88’s, particularly the Classic 88’s… He's also correct in that the 1st 4 patterns in the Classic program (Congress, Canoe, Saddle Horn, and Trapper) were made in the Case factory and subsequently all the Classics were manufactured by Queen.. “Secrecy” in the Classic program was (and still is) paramount to the principals in that program… So some information is hard to come by - I guess the mystique is supposed to be part of the lure?? Others may feel differently – but I don’t see any appreciable differences in the ’90 stamped Classics I have, made by Case, and those later stamped and made by Queen.. ‘All’ of the Classic 88’s I have personally seen were definitely a high quality knife in my book… But if you wanted a Classic pattern actually made in the Case factory one of those four patterns, ’90, stamped would do the trick… Gary
