All About Pocket Knives

As I have said I am very new to collecting knives. What makes a knive collectable? I just ordered a Boker Superliner II with a Tanto blade and there were only 500 made is this a collectable knife or are the older knives more wanted? Also what is the best way to sharpen a knife? Sorry about all the questions...But I'm a gov worker and need all the help I can get. Thanks for all the help so far.

What makes a knive collectable?
Thats a good question with a lot of correct answer. For me, I consider age, rarity, quality and brand some of the more important aspects. Take a vintage Remington knife for example, any you find will be at least 66 years old, the quality of most was high, and one in mint condition is definately rare. Thats what makes them collectable for me. As far as your Boker, I'm sure there are some that say it is collectable, and 500 is a limited number, but a knife that can easily be purchased ,new in the box, at a fairly low price wouldn't seem collectable to me . Some wold disagree and they would be correct as far as their point of view. As long as you like a paticular knife,and its collectable to you , thats all that really matters.

papasmurf ; I think one good company you can't go wrong with is Schrade U.S.A. made. Check out some that you like the looks of.
I like the lockback Schrade LB 7 but I have big hands and like a knife to fill up my paw. Its a felling of a knife that makes me .
Schrade made many real nice quilty knives. Many old paterns that worked well. In time they will go up in value I fell too.

Just make sure they are made in U.S.A. ok
