ive been waiting on that for a while, just looked at there site and seen it, any idea what other handle material will be offered ? primative would be great, or yellow bone.....

Now is a perfect time to start, I'm likin' the idea myself, looks like a great EDC.

Well after looking at the price 80.00-90.00 on this I know I will pass.. Seems GECs are going to be 100.00 in due time.. Have a very hard time spending 50.00-60.00 on a pocket knife, let alone 100.00.. Darn!! John

any idea when the prinative will be out ? or what the unknown jigged bone might be ?

I've got me a dead skunk comin'...figgered I'd pick one up to go with the 53 stockman dead skunk I have...

Dead skunk arrived 'bout 20 min. ago ... slick lil' stockman!

DEAD SKUNK? it is beautifull, but the name is a bit off.

Those 2 skunks look great. IMO the best skunks have plenty of red in them.

No, these do not have half stops ... it is one neat lil knife though (although, I say that 'bout most knives ) I tell ya', the more I play around with her ,the more I wanna' put her in my pocket and make an EDC out of her...

i gotta get one of these, id like a good looking primative, but, some ive seen pics of on other models seemed to have a bunch of stress cracks, and some looked way better than others, i may settle for something elese depending on how the primative looks, i want one for a EDC user, so i wonder in time if the primative could be a little weak anyway for a user knife ?

Hi everybody,

since I lost my conductor, I'm thinking bout buying a new GEC for my EDC.
I've set my eyes on two pattern, the half congress or the calf roper.
the half congress choice is because of its pocket friendly frame.
now the calf roper is because I like stockman with serpentine frame, but I don't see this pattern get much love here...is it?
what you guys think about this pattern? pro and con?
and if you guys have a pic of it for size comparison with a ben hogan or a cattle rancher that would be great.

I really like the #66 Calf Roper that I have, but its not a user.
The #61 Half Congress would make a very nice replacement for your #33 imo.
The blade configuration and size are very similar, and the #61 main is nice. After
EDC'ing your clip #33, the main may take some getting used to , but the pen is
just about the same, if not identical. I was inspired by J2S's #61 Honey Bone and
found one that I love, its a GEC Stainless Steel model though....................which
would be diff from your 1095 #33.

Sorry to hear that your knife is missing, hope you find it....................or at least a nice
replacement.

Don't overlook the #62 & #57 Falah.
#62 is a lil bigger than what your used to tote'n,but it don't get much more pocket/user friendly. I carry a snakewood version of the #62 and the Wharncliffe took a lil get'n used to but I'd be lost without it now. Shares pocket time recently with a Buffalo #57 which is fantastic also. you are right, #61 would be a perfect replacement for my #33, I don't have problem with sheep foot or wharncliffe blade either, but I would like to know your opinion regarding your #66 calf roper, is it not a user because of it's thickness? or do you have other reason?
now Earl, thank you for mentioning #62, how could I missed it, it was on my wish list when it first released . it would be great to have the #62 (easy pocket congress) and the #61 (full congress) now ...oh boy, you guys are baaaad influence . but seriously, Earl, that #62 is sweeeeet

I even had a ruler last night to kinda guessing sizes, and after looking at your pic now I know I'm suck at guessing . those pics really help, A LOT!! . I would like to know your opinion on the #66 too, please.

The 66 Calf Roper is a two spring knife, 3 1/2 inches long. I have a Northfield in Indian Choffee bone and carry it--it's a great EDC knife, but then I"m partial to the stockman pattern anyway. It's very pocket friendly and you have a good selection of practical blade shapes.

theblindog - I don't use the Calf Roper because its a Prototype and I don't buy/carry
very many knives with more than two blades at the moment (except a SAK occasionally).

As far as suggesting a replacement...........here is a #66 Jack pictured with my #61 and a #65.
The #66 is a little wider, but seems like it would be a great length for EDC.
