S & J Kitchin Sheffield Machete ... Military?

Curious about any info anyone may have about this machete. It says on it S & J Kitchin Sheffield No 2640. 1952 Not sure of the origin or what such a knife was used for? is there any significane the words on the case? any value?.... thanks

Looks very similar to the example in Flooks Military Knives book. Is there a broad arrow /l\ along with the year. That would indicate made for military issue

yes it has an arrow symbol right above the 1952

Given the date, possibly GI for deployment in Korea. The sheath looks original with embellishment by the owner. Must have a great story attached. Overall, nice example.
