All About Pocket Knives

It's been a while since I've posted, unfortunately because I haven't found much for a while But last weekend I found a couple keepers at a market! A rare Buhl Sons & Co and a Marbles Safety Axe. I've been looking for a Buhl for a long time now, they were a hardware firm out of Detroit. It is marked Buhl Sons & Co on both blades and A1 Warranted on the reverse of the main. I'm trying to figure out what firm made it for them, I'm thinking it might be Schrade based on the look of the shield and pattern, anyone have any guesses?

As far as the axe it's an early Marble and was only ten bucks, it's real beat up, but for that I'll do a little work on it and put in back into use!

Only places to go around here all winter are "antique" malls and usualy if you find anything the price is insane..

C. Lutters/Lion Cutlery stamped "warrented" on the backs of their blades but didn't use "A-1" I don't think.

Cattaraugus57, it's still too snowy here for most markets as well but I got lucky and found these at an indoor one, maybe you can find one around you.

tjmurphy, thank you for finding and sharing that, I thought I remembered seeing it somewhere before, its a valuable bit of information to know a company as uncommon as Frary likely made some of Buhl's knives on contract

stagman, Pat is actually one of the folks who introduced me to the larger knife collecting community. While I originally intended to keep this one, knowing Pat has done a lot of work researching Buhl and has one of the largest collections of Buhls (if not the largest) I wound up trading it to him a couple days ago as he didn't have an example like it. At least I know it went to a good home. To anyone interested, Pat wrote a great article about the company for Knife World some time back, I'll have to double check when exactly. Now I need to forward the information about Frary's likely connection to him.

In the end though I lost a nice Michigan knife karma payed off and I found a pen knife by another Michigan company I've never heard of for just 3 dollars! I'll post some photos of it this weekend.
