All About Pocket Knives

Here's another I just finished. This Remington toothpick was a nice old used knife, but the scales were really starting to shrink and rust underneath. I had to do something to save her...

Before demo:



Scales removed, yikes!


A little cleaning...


Picked out some nice Culpeper jigged bone scales:


Scales are roughed and glued:


Finish work started:


Final product:



The knife still has outstanding snap. Steel bolsters and liners, and took a wicked edge too. Oh yeah, that culpeper bone ain't too shabby either.

I used a standard 2-part epoxy (Which is at home, I don't remember whose), but like the rookie I am, I never sanded or cleaned the backs of the scales enough. After the dry-up, one of the scales came right off... I don't know what i was thinking.

Thanks for all the positive comments, this project was alot of fun. But I tell you, culpepper bone is not that cheap, so I was sweating a little when fitting it.
