All About Pocket Knives

David, that is a beautiful display! There can't be many cases like that out there. Are all those knives scissors and razors Tidioute made? The top center knife looks like a Baldwin we have, that we always suspected ours wasn't right, but were never sure. Is there any chance that is a Baldwin? If it is, do you have any pics of it?

Yup, everything in the display (including the display) is marked TIDIOUTE. That knife you mentioned is a Baldwin. I think I have seen the one you pictured before. I am not sure on the bone as it is different than any other Baldwin I have seen and the stamping is not typical of Baldwin either. They typically have two styles of stamp. One LARGE version and a much smaller version. Yours doesn't fit either so it makes me wonder if it is the real deal. Of course the tell all that the secondary MUST be stamped TIDIOUTE. If it is not then no it isn't Tidioute. One nice thing about Tidioute knives. The secondary is ALWAYS stamped. Any yours is so, it very well may be the real deal. Up close and personal would verify that for me.

Write that down one hundred times people. it is a major factor in determining Tidioute knives.

Thanks David, The letters don't match the size of the couple others we have, and just looks too good to be true. Did Parker or anyone fake Baldwins?

I thought that bottom sheath knife must be a Marble's! Is it a Union??

I would have to see your Baldwin up close. Other things look good about it too. I do not know of any repro of Baldwin other than what was done by Atkins in the 50's and 60's. Your's looks better than those though.

Yes that Marble's looking knife is UNIOR RAZOR TIdioute Sheffield Eng. an import. Only one I have EVER seen. It is seriously sharp too.

I even have the sheath that is an exact look of Marbles. If you look at old threads on here, I have more pics of it posted.

I am sure we will see you sometime, and bring it as well as the other PA knives along. We intended to go to GEC last year, while the Case show was going on, but we ended up at Case both days.... Came home tired and broke too!
Is there a Queen show this year? I have heard that there should be, but nothing for certain?

David that is really a nice collection you have. I'm curious when the fixed blade knife that resembles a Marbles was made?

That Marbles look-a-like, is stamped UNION RAZOR & KNIFE TIDIOUTE, Sheffield Eng.

It was imported for the Brown family. That time frame is 1902-1909 THis is the ONLY fixed blade Tidioute hunting knife I have EVER seen. I heard of them from the old timers but never seen one. I have the butcher knife, but it is made in Tidioute. This hunter was from England.
Needless to say, for a guy that isn't much into fixed blades this one is a real keeper for me.

Thank you for posting the picture of the tang stamp! I didn't realize that it would say England & Tidioute. That's a very cool knife. I would love to see more pictures of the tang stamps of your collection.

Thanks gals and guys. This is just a portion of my Tidioute related items, but I feel it showcases some of my most prized pieces. For 40 years of collecting knives and several items are (the only one I have ever seen) category. But that's what makes if fun and someday some else will be the keeper of these treasures. I hope they enjoy them as much as I have. I have heard a rumor that we can't take our knives with us when the big guy calls.

I hope they have a knife show up there? "that's assuming I go UP THERE"
