All About Pocket Knives

We hope this forum will provide a place to ask questions, show pictures, and share knowledge about many of the knives made by companies that may no longer be in the knifemaking business. It is sometimes quite difficult to find any information about many of these examples, or the straight scoop on the Company that made the knife. Hopefully, those knowledgeable collectors will check in here and share their knowledge with all of us, and this will become a helpful and educational forum.

Woofer , Phil the Marguerita moderator, I feel like Rex Ingram ( the Genie in the old Sinbad movie ) when they uncorked him from the bottle I am free. Ah, ping pong balls, yes I have a few... and other stuff too, like them old socks and still some Drown Royal left, it's all part of our own Knife Lore I guess, along with good memories to keep.

Hey Larry nice place feels like home with your acumen for computers and such you were probably a member before in any event they sure have treated me nice. Do these people know about your site collectorsof schradesareus.com ( I hope I wrote it correctly I am not real smooth with computers ) . I met with assembly woman Gunther yesterday they are reintroducing the knife museum bill into the legislature again this year. I will keep you informed in fact I guess I will keep everyone informed. Looks like winter is about to jump on us. Dang it got cold fast.
Was in Quebec this weekend enjoyed it greatly. Wife and I ate at a local resturant and tried Stag, Bison and Caribou for the 1st time. Great stuff. Only knives I saw intown were junk swords and futuristic crap at some tourist shops.
It was colder in Bos when we landed Sun than when we left Canada.

Yes, some of us have met elsewhere on the web, and we have our own memories and local jokes, maybe just a little explaining may be in order...

About me: Retired after programing Cobol for 20+ years, born and live in Mexico, foreign student in the USA (math at UCLA and University of Michigan), have done many things in my life including playing Table Tennis and Baseball, some people tell me that I talk loud and too much.

About the socks... IIRC someone once posted a picture of a knife over a sock, I guess it seems like a good idea for keeping knives, in a sock they stay warm and protected from scratches. I once knitted a pair of socks for my daughter, I guess I just show them off when I have a chance.

About the ping pong balls, Hey I did not start it !... Oh well, ping pong balls are made of celluloid, like the handle scales of some old knives, they are sometimes used as projectiles in some kinds of play, I think that the local joke started when someone mentioned having seen them used in a bar or something like that.

Other things may pop up in our conversations, hopefully nothing too hard to understand.

I like your style! and I love that pic. That's a Margarita, made the real way and served in an old fashioned glass. Somewhere along the way, that wonderful tequila concoction has been twisted from a man's drink to a favorite of women served up frothy and blended into a slushy in flavors such as Peach and Mango.

I prefer, as my friends the 'Uncle Henry's Lost Souls' know, to slice my limes using a USA made Schrade BT01 with a forged stainless blade.

The Greatest "Survival" knife ever made. Rambo did not use one because even he was not man enough to handle the mighty blade. Probably drank margaritas made in a blender as well.

I found it was quite ironic that Sylvester Stallone, who played Rambo (for our younger members who may not have seen the movie) did not serve in the military during Vietnam, Instead (I am told) he spent the that time in Europe, avoiding the draft. Don't know if it is true, but I haven't watched a Rambo movie since then.

Phil, I think you are right. He couldn't handle a real knife so he got a piece of junk instead.

Everything is new and different! It's like the first time I went to New York City! Downtown Manhattan, and all I did was gawk at how big and busy it was!
I want to thank Phil for inviting me here, and I promise to make a dang nuisance of myself! I'm not a Lost Soul yet, but I'm working on it!
I visited here some time ago, and wound up with a different name, but most of you know me as waynorth, from BF (hence the nuisance part!).
I know, I know, don't worry, I'll be good!
Can't wait to get started, and I hope I can contribute something to the mix. I'm still about half Newbie, but that shouldn't last more than 50 years or so!
