Hello,
I'm new to this site and new to knife collecting...
what got me started was that my dad gave me his old pocket knife, a Premier Lifetime - muskrat, had it for a few years but got interested in the nostalgia of it after looking at some other brands. Bought some Bulldog Brand knives, came across an old Colonial in a second hand store, an old American Blade, Camillus, an old MKlein & Sons, and a couple of Case pocket knives & a Boker.
Just ordered a book on pocket knives and sometimes I surf the net looking for articles and history on the companys.
I haven't come across anything for Premier yet, anyone know a site or can give me some background on the company?
PS, wish I had found this site earlier as I bought what I thought was a bulldog brand but turned out to be that cheap Pakistan crappy knife.... lesson learned! This site is awesome.
Thanks,
Ratchet

There was a Premier knife company that operated from around 1921-1955 in New York City. I think their knives were made in Germany and imported to the USA.

And, Lifetime is listed as one of their Trademarks. While the brand is not particularly collectable, the fact that your dad passed it on to you certainly gives it value to appreciate.

EDITED:
Ratchet,
Since I see you are from Canada, I should add that Premier also operated in Toronto at one time, according to several sources I checked.

My knowledge is that Premier Lifetime was a brand used by a Canadian hardware company on Solingen made pocketknives. I have owned several and I can't remmeber where I heard of the Canada connection...there was no marling of Canada on the knives. I did see a Premier disply case in a hardware store on a trip through Canada once many years ago.

WOW! Thanks for all the information on this brand / company!
All I can say is that I really am attached to it - it has a nice "feel" to it, not to mention the sentamental bond with it....

Ratchet ; WELCOME to AAPK.
I think you will spend lots of time here too. The people have so much knowledge here and a good fun place too.
You are starting on the right foot now. Read many books that’s step one. Ask Questions like you are step two. You will find out many super things here so you do NOT make so many errors. When you buy your next knife.
Do not fell bad about your Errors learn from them. We all still do make errors.
Go back and read some old POST. Jump in a post if you have a Question.
And most of all that knife your DAD gave you should mean lots to you. (He started it and now that the knife bug bit you)
A knife that you own that has feelings is a knife of value.
Many times you will hear knifers talk about how the knife fells in their hands too.
O well I need to stop talking. ::blah:: ::blah::
P.S. check out the stores here at AAPK too.

I am looking for Premiere Lifetime knives. They started in New York in 1922 but also opened a distributorship in Toronto Canada about the same time. They continue to do business mostly in Canada. They were manufactured and imported from various countries including Germany,England, Japan and Italy. I was at the recent OKKA knife show and displayed my original Premiere Lifetime retailers case which came from a hardware store in Vancouver BC that was in business from the 1930's.
