The date I have for that tang stamp is 1917 to 1946.

I would guess it has a broken spring. It could probably be fixed by the right person. Rich Langston is the expert on these. It looks like a model 1613 3/4. See page 56 of THE COLLECTORS GUIDE TO SWITCHBLADE KNIVES by Richard Langston.

I will email Rich a link & see if he can come in & comment on this knife.

Petesknives: If you dont have it you can get Mr. Langstons book from amazon.
I say his posting here would be an enhancement to Bryans site. He, no doubt has more knowledge on schrades and switchers than the average bear.

By the way Ken, should you desire getting rid of your treasure my candy stripe could use some company. For its worth, I believe the old statement that one knife can be a collection.

Schrade also made that pattern for Remington. It was a R2403. Orvet is probably correct, a broken spring is a common ailment on that knife. Let us know if you decide to sell it.

A chip on the handle. What would a fair price to ask for a broken switch. Not that I'm in the selling market right now. Thanks all you for your inputs! Ken

With all due respect to you IMO no one in their proper frame of mind would suggest what someone elses property was worth unless in a bargaining situation. That being said there are folks who appraise things for a fee and they are bound by their on integrity and law in some states to give a proper estimate. If and when you ascertain an asking price, It sounds as though there are more than myself who would be interested
in your piece. Is it legal to sell switchblades in your home state. That would be my first question. Thank You for listening and luck ahead.

Edit;The book lists your knife in mint condition at $600.00

I have a switchblade that the spring snapped in, cost about $28.00 to repair. It should be they just have to pop out one pin, and the spring will come right out.

Well, lets see, a chip out of one of the handles, poosible broken spring, my first offer would be $175. I realize you are not in the selling market right now, however you can send me a pm in the future if you decide to sell and we might be able to work out a price. I just noticed that Mossdancer was first to show interest in the knife so it would only be fair to offer it to him first. But if that doesn't work out, keep me in mind.
