Old Kabar, when do you think it was born?

From that pic I would guess 50's
But then again, if I was any good at guessing I would be living in Vegas! LOL!

thats a current stamping from 1977 to current the use of small a" s not caps and no - between them the 50s stamp would have been KA-BAR generally

Goins has it as 1923 to present. I am not that bad at guessing LOL!

Here is a "OLD" hunter with lock guard I have shown this one before. Note the crack, and
glue on the lower bolster. I did stablize the crack and clean the glue off lower bolster other
than that knife is as found. Click Pic

actually the knife wasnt stolen from me intentionally,, but it was stolen all the same.. it was in the breast pocket of a very well worn wrangler demin jean jacket...someone stole the jacket..had it hanging in a resturant where i was eating a burger...damm nice jacket too.. i have since replaced the knife, now when i look at the replacement it brings back memories that wouldnt be there...wierd,, isnt it?

I really like folding hunters. Here are some of mine. All Case, except the Ka bar. The far right Case was my Fathers. He had lost the scale one one side, and glued a piece of garden hose on it. I sent it back to Case (shortly after his death in 1973) and they matched it up perfectly and did not charge me a cent.

Here's one from before WWII; note the all cap stamp. I'm not sure of exactly how old it is, but the skinner blade has the Union Cutlery stamp.Sorry about the picture quality. It is a dog's head, but I can't put my fingers on a photo at the moment.

I'd put that Kabar stamp at late 50's to 70's - slanted script Kabar w/ the fancy "b", all one word (no dash). Unless theres a pattern # stamp, which would bump it up to 1970's to present. In 1975 they started the Collector Club knives too, with reissues of old patterns with real stag handles, and not a whole lot to distinguish them from they're predecessors.

Beautiful knifes,I have been looking for a kbar that looks like the one stockman has.The reason Im looking my grandfather had one in the early 60s and the knife looked old then it did not have a dog head on it. Like I said looked just like stockmans but someone said his was from the 70s.Does anyone know did they make that style knife in the early 60s-50s with out the dog head.Maybe his had a dog head and it came off???
