All About Pocket Knives

AAPK member and S&M collector extraordinaire, David Clark (Nifbuf), has published a truly remarkable article in this month's issue of KnifeWorld Magazine.

David, in his quest for information has uncovered previously unpublished facts about Schatt & Morgan Cutlery and their Atlanta connected Dollar Knife knives in particular.

David is to be commended for a well researched, well written and scholarly article.

Everyone here needs to read it. The genealogies alone are enough to make your eyes do a 360 in your head.

Charlie, I agree 100%. That was a great article. However, I had to read it three times just to absorb most of the information. So many twists and turns in the S&M/Atlanta connection.

This article was fascinating. Mr. Clark has done such an awesome job researching Schatt & Morgan and Dollar Knives!

I wonder if the Martin family realized what a treasure they had? To the knife collecting world, old documents like those are priceless.

I also find it interesting that the stamps for Curtain & Clark, Marshall Wells, Crown Cutlery, Griffon, Bridge and others are still at the Queen plant. It really sparks my curiosity to watch for those company names more often.

I have a Crown Cutlery knife which is a very simple ebony knife, that has seen better days. LG4 has Crown Cutlery listed twice. The first listing says Ger/Aust as the country of origin. Next, it lists that during WW1 that Crown was made in the USA.

I doubt that I would be lucky enough to have a USA made one, but I thought I would show you the knife.

BTW, Mr. Clark is the person working with Queen on the new "heritage series" due out this year.
