a friend passed this weekend...his name was walter, 89 years he made his way on this planet...always a smile and a good word for others...he arrived in Attu just after the japanese were tossed into the water...chrew chief on the "spirit of 76" a P-38...i helped take care of him during the last few years...his old memorie forgot to turn off the stove, or that he was no longer allowed to drive...what a hoot.

i went through his photos of living conditions on attu...canvas tents in blizzards that would make snow bunnies in Vail go inside...and here is walter tunning up a P-38, changing belts in the 50's...

unreal what those men went through...

god bless walter...

Gringo,

Even though your friend had a long life I know it is still hard to say goodbye no matter how old they may be. I'm glad you were there to share time and caring with Walter and that he was there for you. God bless you and him.

Phil
