#12 Powder Horn Jack...WOW!!!

I posted the following on the GEC website forum last night. Here are the pictures as promised.

Just received my new 2-blade #12 Powder Horn Jack in Primitive Bone and I'm nearly speechless. I haven't been this blown away by a GEC since the Executive Whittler in Primitive Bone. I was so impressed that I purchased a 2nd Powder Horn Jack in Primitive Bone to put away. I've never purchased more than one of any GEC knife to date. The fit and finish on this knife is absolutely flawless. The snap is strong, but not nail busting. THE BLADES ARE SHAVING SHARP RIGHT OUT OF THE TUBE…YES!!! The Primitive bone is outstanding. Mine could probably pass as Mammoth/Mastadon Ivory bark. The handle is the most ergonomic of all my GEC knives. I have a single blade #12 that's nice, but the 2-blade version feels simply amazing in the hand. The new style clip blade compliments the lines of the handle. The pictures online(GEC and Distributors) really don't do this knife any justice. I'll admit that I wasn't that impressed at first. You really have to hold this knife to appreciate how elegant it looks and how solid it feels in the hand.

::tu:: ::tu:: Very nice. I think I like the two blades better than one in this pattern.

Two blades add just the right thickness to the handle for comfort and a more secure grip during use. The pen/spear blade is small enough for detail work yet large enough to be quite useful. Feels bigger in the hand than in the pocket. Near perfect EDC in my opinion.

Gino,
I'm just getting started on the patina on the single blade #12. I've only had it for a year or so. I'll let you know if I ever get tired of hauling it around. ::tu::

I just bought #16, on your recommendation, from Gary at Northwest Knives.

Very nice augustus88!

I love that they have in last year or so moved away from that cigar frame that was on everything it seemed like.

Hey Octavio; does the powder horn have half-stops? ::shrug::

Unfortunately no half-stops. The only thing this knife is missing is half-stops.

You won't be disappointed, Gary. I love the pattern! The single blade version is nice too!

This is probably my favorite handle material next to stag, but it is a beautiful knife in any handle material.

I favor the slim feel of the single blade 12s, but have to say I do like the main blade profile of the PH.

Yah the blade is what drew me the most I think, while the single one when closed has nice lines the PH looks like a better slicer, now...the wait ::mdm::

Edited to add, Gunstock, that's a VERY nice collection you have there! thanks for sharing!! ::handshake::

arrived while I was away with the family today, made the day seem like forever
don't get me wrong, I do love the family,...but ::super_happy:: getting home
as soon as we could made my foot just a little heavier on the pedal ::groove::
AND WOW, agree that it's a WOW, just love it, stag is great, fit and finish is
also great, blade is ground down fairly thin, arrived kinda sharp but will be very
sharp soon enough.

Love it, just plain love it !
Will post a thread with photos when I get a chance to do the knife justice, as best I can that is...
