All About Pocket Knives

I recently picked up this one. A 3" penknife with elongated bolsters, and what appear to be jigged black hard rubber handles. Both blades are marked CASE in an arch over MANUFACTURING Co.

I do not recall when or by which branch of the Case family this stamp was used. Interesting old knife, if anyone has any info it would be interesting to hear.

Steve I have no idea But it is a cool old knife. Call Katie and see if there are any records at the factory. I know it is a ling shot but it could happen

Thanks Alan, great info. So the stamp was probably only used for 3-4 years max.

They made at least 50.

There may have been a million made, just not very sought after.

BIGHEAD and knifeaholic I'm not speaking for Marty, but what I think he was referring to is the chart posted. According to the chart BOTH stamps were RA-2: less than 50 known (extremely rare).

I own a knife that has this stamp and on the master blade CASE MFG, WARREN PA. That just so happens to be my home town. I have a pic on another thread if you want to search for it. I have questioned the actual manufacturing of the knife in Warren and I have NEVER been able to locate anything positive to verify that, but i was reminded that this operation was small and could have easily been a garage type operation and not the full fledge cutlery plant we all imagine.

Remember that this stamp was also in Little Valley and has relations to Smethport at well. I have seen a Little Valley example. "not for sale unfortunately" and I continue to search for a Smethport knife to round out my PA collection. I only lack a dozen example from having ONE OF EACH.
