This thing is pretty cool.... I almost want to throw it on my key chain and use the blank for the house

I've seen them with a patent date on the bail, 1920's. I don't know if that applies to the bail or the knife.
I think they were made in the 1920's and 30's. I'm reasonably sure they would not have made them during WWII and I'm positive they were not being made after.

I doubt the key blank would work for your house, unless of course the grooves on the sides matched your lock correctly.

I'm reasonably sure these were meant to open Post Office boxes that had a Yale locking door. Robeson made arrangemements with a locksmith in Attleboro, Mass to change the key out if your lock was something other than Yale. Robeson paid for that service.

Interestingly, I do not think I've ever seen one of these that had the key cut.

There are two on Ebay right now, one with an original little yellow cloth bag. Watch those two auctions to get and idea of what yours might be worth.

Here is something you may find interesting.

Pictured below is the same knife advertised in a 1931 L.F.& C. dealer catalog.

The part I find interesting is about sending the knife to the same locksmith as Robeson used.

Doesen`t make sense for Robeson to send them all the way to Massachusetts to a locksmith, unless L.F.& C. made them for Robeson

That wouldn't surprise me. I've seen these knives with other maker's marques on them too.

How far apart are New Britain and Attleboro?

It wouldn't surprise me to find that all of Robeson's little gold shell handled knives were done by LF&C. or somebody else.

Here's a Robeson marked one on Ebay with a stamped patent date of May, 1924.

Awosme, and thanks for the link Charlie. I searched Ebay and I have bad luck searching I guess because I can never find anytihng im looking for!!!

And its starting bid is $70!!! Mine is in just as good as shape as that one, lets see how much it jumps up

Yours has Carbon blades, feebay knife has Stainless steel blades.

I don`t know, I have only seen the ones by Robeson and L.F.& C. so far

Here's my Robeson;albeit a little banged up and a variation on the theme:an Imperial with a fold -out key.Looking these up made me want to do a post on watch fob knives.Think I'll take some pictures tomorrow and do one.
