I really like these old Remington knife rolls, you can't see in the picture but they have Remington embossed in gold letters in the leather portion of the roll.

Wow!

How many knives does that roll hold?

Can I see a close up of the mark on the leather?

msteele6 is correct, this roll holds 150 knives. Heres another picture of it. In addition to the 150 knife roll, Remington also made rolls that held 100 - 60 - 36- and 30 knives. These rolls were really well made with heavy canvas exterior with leather straps leather handles and brass rivets.

I'm impressed. They must have quite a value themselves.
Did other knife makers do something similar?

Theres an article in Bruce Voyles book about factory knife rolls, he says that Case, Remington, Keen Kutter, Boker, and Belknap all produced rolls. I have one Case thats huge, I'll check and see how many knives it holds. I paid around $325 give or take for each of these, not including the little orange one.
I do have one of the original countertop felts from Remington, thats a pretty cool piece of cutlery history.
Yes all the knives in the roll are vintage Remingtons.

Bummer man, I was wanting to see the Rem counter felt… I know this is an old thread but thought I would flash my Case Roll here. I've thought about selling it. Not sure of the date it was made. Maybe somebody else does.

Hey, Maybe RC will show us the counter felt now that I dug this thread up ::nod::

Thanks, I like it but I can't seem to fill it due to my being knife poor. Remingtoncollector, talk to me :) I was thinking after the summer economic blues fade away ebay might be a good venue to sell it but since you are a collector, whatcha thinkin? Rocky, It depends on the size of the knives but using only one strap per knife I'm thinking it holds 70 or 74… I bought that from an old road salesman who did the east coast circuit for years. He's become a pretty good friend but still trades me as if his money is worth more than my money lol. One of those fellas that has a quick line for almost every scenario, those old salesman lines ya know...
