All About Pocket Knives

Hello to everyone,
I'm Richard, down here in Northeast Texas. I thought I'd go by "mumblypeg" because it's an old game my cousins and I were taught by our Grandfather. Involves trying to stick a knife in the ground from different points off the body, (finger, knuckle, wrist and such). I'm sure some of the more mature (I won't say older) members know what I'm talking about.
I'm a newbie when it comes to collecting knives. I've been at it about 10-12 yrs. now. I know I still have alot to learn and I really appreciate everyone's advice here.
I'm sort of all over the place in my collection, though I am partial to the peanut style. Bone or other natural handle material (stag when I can afford it).
Also, a BIG "Thank You" to Bryan for having this great site.
I've been doing alot of reading here and have enjoyed and learned a ton of info.
Anyway, I'll sign off now. And thanks again everyone for dropping the knowledge on us newbies. I know I appreciate it.

hey richard, good to have another texan join the frey. we all look forward to hearing what interests you and would like to see your knives. we are all learning from each other. and yes, bryan is a great benefit to us knifers.

Soon as I click on that link below "How do I add a picture?" and read up on what it has to say, I'll be posting a few pics. If it's as simple as E-bay's software to use, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it. ( I'm kinda new at this 'puter stuff also).

I say I've been collecting 10-12 yrs, but have been serious (buying books and researching) about 3 yrs. now, so I'm relatively new at it. But I'll try to contribute what I can.

And I know mumblypeg very well, my father taught the game to me as a youngster...I sure wish I had all my toes still...

I recall playing that game. We always went finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and then for the finally ...a back flip off the nose

no i havent posted any pics, because i dont have a digital camera its a beautiful knife though.

i got family in mineola and tyler. i'm in tyler a couple times a year at a frineds fishin/huntin camp. beautiful country up there.
