I'm fairly pleased with the 48 pattern in all its configurations. This is a recent addition in genuine stag from CK. Thanks, Mike!!

I think my favorite may still be the original with the muskrat clip and straight narrow spey blades, but I gotta admit, the Western Trapper has a lot of class. ::nod::

I'd like to see Great Eastern come out with a 48 in a muskrat clip master/pen secondary configuration. That shouldn't be too tough, should it? They already have all the parts. ::smirk:: Just a thought....

I do like the long pull on the GEC. as far as looks go.

I want to know if the AAPK knife is easyer to open due to the nail nick being up more to the tip.

Gunstock,
Outstanding Stag on both of your 48s! I REALLY love your taste in knives. ::tu::

Ultimately I decided against one of the AAPK knives because the shape of the clip blade isn't my favorite and I've reached my self imposed limit of knife purchases for a while.
A week ago I purchased a serialize stag #48 Trapper Jack with the pen blade, but I returned it due to a defect in the clip blade. A shame too because the stag was nice. I would've kept it, but I didn't want to deal with a warranty repair on a new knife. As a replacement for the Trapper Jack I went ahead and picked up this unserialized Western Trapper in Burnt Stag. Love this one so far! ::tu::

I picked this one up the other day, it's on the way as we speak... ::hmm:: #48 trapper in American cherry wood. ::hmm:: most of the smooth American cherry woods I've seen were plain, this one seems to have a lot of character. I couldn't resist... Great pattern as well. ::shrug:: ::tu::
