All About Pocket Knives

I just got my first model 73 Scout--River Valley Green bone. It was made in 2007, which I realize is one of the early ones.

This knife just begs to be used!

The question is should I use it or since it's an early knife, should I try to trade it for a newer one to use as a a carry knife? Would a collector appreciate this knife because it's an '07?

Will the fact that it's a 2007 hold more value?

Am I worried about nuthin'?

It's a great knife--love this pattern and want one for carry!

That's where I'm at Big Monk. Made my mind up about 10 minutes after I did the first post. Done sharpened her up (this one came with decent edge anyway,) and put her in the pocket. She's scary sharp now.

This one is gonna get used.

Awesome knife CB, I'd love to hear how it works out for you. I love my GEC's for work, they take a ton of abuse and they just keep going, I hope your's is no exception.

Well here are my two GEC users--the little Mink I've had for a few months. Nice compact size, good for formal dress! you can see it's already getting a little patina.

The 73 is a serious tool--the heft and the solid feel of it and the smoothness and authority of the blades when you open and close the knife are impressive. I've shown it to a couple of folks and was a little wary of them opening it--those springs are like a bear trap and it snaps closed so hard it'd take a finger off! It took a great edge.

It's my first "big" pocketknife, mostly I've had stockmans and SAKs, and of course the Mink. Me and this Scout are gonna become great companions.

I think I'm gonna go out and chop down a tree with it...
