All About Pocket Knives

I have three Remington knives that have stag handles and the blades are stamped "Made in W. Germany".
Are these real Remington's? One is a trapper, barlow, and lockback.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That depends on what you mean by "real" Remingtons. The Remington Firearms Co. stopped manufacturing knives c. 1940 and sold their equipment to Pal Cutlery Co. Most of the collectors want the knives that were actually manufactured by Remington and therefore the knives that Remington may have licensed to be produced since then are not as collectible as the ones made using their manufacturing facilities before WWII.

That doesn't mean that there isn't a market for authorized reproductions that were licensed by Remington since then, just that they are a slightly different animal.

I am thinking these knives are from the 1980's-they came in the plain olive drab box-I just thought it was unusual that the blades were marked "Made in W. Germany".

Any photos of the knives or boxes??

I do know that ther wer some Remington repros made in Germany before Camillus started making them. I was thinking that was back in the 70`s. Well if anyone here can remember history class and knows when the Berlin Wall came down that would help. I would guess that any knife stamped W Germany would have been made prior to the wall coming down.
