This is something different...a unfinished Utica Cut. Co with guard and pommel. Not sure if it's a WW2 or Vietnam era...don't know
how it got out of the factory like this...maybe in the lunch box...

Most likely lunchbox of some employee with a grinder at home. If the guard walked out at the same time, being the curved variety, I'd say it's c.1961.

Also, should you come back at some time and check on this thread, Utica wasn't a WW2 contractor for MK2s.
