All About Pocket Knives

I just bought this cattle knife last week and wanted to post it and see if anyone else had any etched Wilbert Cutlery knives. This is the first one that I have seen etched. It's 3 5/8" closed and does not seem to have been used at all. The blades and bone are really crisp. Has a great beefy feel to the knife. Levine's states that Wilbert knives were made by either Napanoch or Empire?? Any more info would be appreciated.

Now I have to find a box or billhead to go with it.

knife7knut, I can't tell in the picture, but if this is jigged bone it is probably a 1920 Nap.

galvanic really nice old Wilbert. Do you think it is Napanoch?

I don't know what other company made Wilbert's but have read that Napanoch did but I have no proof fo that. It is a beefy knife for sure.

LG4 states that Empire might have made some too. Either way, both are quality companies.

I have always thought that Napanoch made the early Jack Knife Ben knives with the blade etch JACK KNIFE BEN HANDY DANDY.

galvanic1882, nice cattlemans knife. I didn't score a Wilbert knife over the weekend, but I did pick up a very nice Wilbert Cutlery straight razor, original box included. Dale

a friend of my wife has me look at some knives that belong to her dad. one is a large 4 1/4" elephant toe, beautiful old jig handles, no shield. only thing i can make out on the tang is wilber,,,,,i figure it is a wilbert.. any idea of its age or value? nice amount of blade left including full pen blade, main blade has double pull, long pull and thumb nick....thanks chet

This is the only Wilbert I have, least ways I'm pretty sure it is. Unfortunately the blade was heavily polished and nothing of the Wilbert shows, just a CUTL... and CHICA. Slim.

Great pickup, Joe. I love those old ebony hunters, nice full blade and, as you stated, great shield. You should post that shield on the shields thread (hasn't been much action on that thread for awhile).

Great old knife, Joe!

Here's a neat old English jack with a Wilbert Stamp. Both blades stamped with curved Wilbert and nothing more. No stamps on pile side. 4 7/16" closed.
Unfortunately some insecure individual drilled a hole near the cap. No doubt to attach a rabbits foot.
I wonder who made this knife.

I have a couple. The first is practically unused,2nd is worn. I'm fairly certain these are Camillus,as the Camillus I have is an exact replica ,except handles.

These ,and the older Camillus knife I have like them,have extra thick liners,same blades,etc.. I'll have to get a comp scan,if I can.
