All About Pocket Knives

Wonderin if any of you guys have any knives from Anza. Any opinions on them?

I've had this one for about 6 yrs. now, but I've never used it...not that I wouldn't love to, just never got around to it. I have no question of it's worthiness. Bear in mind though that most Anzas that I've seen are hollow ground...nothing wrong with that, you just have to use them within the limits of the design.

I have a friend that swears by them. I only have one, which I have not used.

I don't own one but I do recall one of our AAPK members, peterforce, really singing the praises of the Anza knives.

Are they still making them from old files?

As far as I know by reading on their website, they still use a file for the blade. I'm thinkin I may pick one up...I really like the heaviness of the blade.

Yes, they still make them from files. The one I posted above is new, made a couple of months ago, and for sale in my store (although I have a buyer for it).

I like ANZA knives. They look good.Made in the USA. Are sharp.
I wouldn't mind checking to see how strong they are.Maybe i'll test one someday in a vice & see if it flexes a bit.I believe they are heat treated real good,but folks always seem sceptical that the file is brittle.I guess testing will tell.

I'm not sure I'd apply a lot of lateral pressure to an Anza blade, either while cutting through fairly thick media or in a vise. The blades are usually hollow ground. That makes them extremely thin down by the edge. I'm sure the one I have will take an edge easily and hold one fairly well. When used for slicing...as the blade is designed for..I wouldn't doubt it's strength. If you try bending it in some unnatural fashion, you'll likely experience some sort of problem at the edge. This isn't because the blade is brittle, it's because the edge is thin.
If you try the vise trick, use a filet knife...they are made, ground, and tempered to be flexible to some degree.
