You should be fine as long as you don't click and download something on the site where the link directed you.
We get these spammers from time to time. Most of them post the URL's to improve their website's search engine ranking and of course to direct more traffic to these sites...
They are like fleas. I got rid of that one. I'm sure there will be another before long
I do my best to catch them asap
Looking into upgrading forum software soon that might make the job easier.

Beware of new members with just a link, I removed one last week. Guess I should of warned Bryan, it sounds like the same one.

You can copy that link and (PM)send it back to them. Put's a whole new meaning to "What goes around, Comes around."
The ones I have picked up here have been Trojans. It starts off trying to sell you some kind of software to remove the crap they planted on your machine. "WinSong 2006" or something like that.
I have also found it is best not to publish your email address on the web. It makes scammers alot easier to find you. At least put the word 'dot' in there.
Unless, you are a fan of BustedUpCowGirl and are just fishing.

OK... I think I have this problem solved. I just implemented a program that keeps new member accounts inactive until I approve them...
With this in place, no one new can post until their account is manually activated after a quick email / ip check etc...
I hate to do this, but for now... it's all I know to do.
These pests have been quite persistant lately.

I can't believe I forgot that about the email address
So, away it goes.
I remember when I worked at HP, a buddy I know took all the spammers email addresses that a few of us had in our inboxes and took a new server for a test drive with a trojan he wrote. Lets just say a few hundred spammers had their server's reconfigured in another language also. He got about 75% of the ones he targeted. The guy was a genius and left to go back east somewhere and formed his own network secuity company. He was just to smart to waste his talent at HP.
