i think where he added more to the description is correct, a "rooster nutter", ive seen one like that advertised before.

Army Medics definitely carried these knives in Viet Nam.

Whenever we came across some GI that had managed to get himself wounded through his own profound stupidity, we whipped out that little knife and rendered him a non-contributor to the human gene pool.

Those stories get started by people who sell knives but have NO clue what they actually selling; so they let their imagination take over along with some remnants of a knife they vaguely remember hearing discussed at some point. Stir all that in along with a little 'buzz' to entice more interest and there you have it.

He originally had it listed as an 'Antique Stef6 Gravity Paratrooper Knife'.

I just had to write and correct this crap. I told the seller this was called a pantographic knife, was not even close to working via gravity and certainly wasn't issued to any paratrooper and wasn't an antique. I gave him some further details ad explanation about the actual knife. If you dissect his old description, the only accurate word in that title is 'knife'.

He actually took my email partly to heart and made some changes to the title. I see he has now relisted it as "Antique Stef 6 pantograph knife?"; which while not accurate to what I told him it was, at least is a bit closer to facts. Why he kept the word 'antique' I have no idea, other than to make it sound better, I certainly never suggested that it was antique in any way. I had a bunch of these brand new, mint a few years ago with all brass frames with a steel blade. I see someone was eager enough to fall for it and the bid so far stands at $30.

It's the same old 'make up a good story' deal as when you buy a bayonet at the gun show; invariably unless it is brand new, they all have some original blood on them from the battle they were in.
