All About Pocket Knives

Here's a pic of the remington store display case I made.
The pic isn't the best,probably should take a better one with the new cam...anyaway...
The wood is a little thick(didn't have a planer)
I will at some point put the Rem logo on the top like orig.
It not exact but nice and was made to look old.
Of course I have Cattaraugus knives in it because I have only
a few Remingtons(right now)

I don't know how Catt did it, but dividers that size are actually fairly easy to make.

Cut your plywood to size for the backing. Make your spacer sticks (they run horizontally in the pictures) by using a spacing jig and dado head in the table saw. Cut the vertical strips to size. Nail a vertical strip on each side of the plywood. Index your spacers to hold the other vertical strips in place and tack them down. Finish up the construction by centering the two spacer strips and tacking them down.

If you are going to cover (with felt/fabric/etc) the insert, do it before tacking the spacers down. Then make new spacers with slightly-larger openings, and cover it before installing it in place. Another approach would be to cover the vertical pieces and background, and finish the spacers as natural wood or paint (often black).

The last one I did was finished as natural wood, so all I had to do was pre-sand everything, then fill the nail holes and sand down the putty. Two quick coats of lacquer and it was done.

Which reminds me, I need to make one of these soon for my TL-29 collection.

I modeled it after one I saw in an old hardware catalog,actualy it was Tryon.
Yours is about the same except from the picture I had to work of of,I couldn't tell if the front dividers bottoms were upholstered or not so I didn't cover them.

I actualy used large paint stiring sticks and cut them down.
I cut slots in them,upholstered them and then made inserts to push in
place when the main divider set was together.
Took a little while to figure it cause it was the first one I made.
The inserts are slightly padded.
The pine I used was from an old box a friend found in a barn.

I will be making several more from different makers soon.
