All About Pocket Knives

I've been doing some up grading lately and thought I'd share some pic's. I'm really like pilot knives, but the MK l's and MK 2's
are nice also. I'd love to see some pic's of your's...MK 2 with screw on pommel...MK 3's and any other Camillus military knife.

BTW...notice anything about the sheath's on the JP knives...?

The tip on one has metal and the other does not, also the bottom is shaped different. On has a blued snap button the other does not.

Good eye MB, but there is one more...top sheath has belt loops and the bottom sheath does not.
In an article by Frank Trzaska he state's these were ment to be sewn into a pilot's survival vest,
I knew there had to be a reason for all those holes in it.

Strange... New to me!
Hmmm... Making those slots for the belt probably would not cost much and would have made the sheath much more versatile...

Well, I learned something new today Bob, I never knew what those holes were for either

The sheath for the top pictured JPK was likely made pre-68, as the metal tip protector was added in the specs late in '67.

This is still a work in progress...I'm going to stick with Camillus millitary, fixed blade and folders...I got
side tracked on JP knives for a while...but I'm on the hunt for other's now, should keep me busy for a while..
Looking at the JP's I noticed the swedge's changed over the years...the one's pictured are pre-1967, 1972 and 1984.
I know they changed paint color's on the pommel from grey-blue to black, but the 1972 one I have is
different from the rest...that's what make's our hobby enjoyable.

I know commemortive's are not everybody's favorite, but this set was just too nice...I had to give it a good home...

That`s a real fine collection you have there

Looks like you have a few pocket knives in the bottom right hand side of the first picture

It looks like one Ulster mountain division utility knife.

Two 4-blade utility knives

And two E.O. jacks, all WWII vintage.

MB, You sure called it right...no Camillus military collection would be complete without some pocket knives...
A U.S.A., a M.D.-U.S.N. and E.O. jack...I know I've got a TL-29 somewhere, I am on the lookout for a Signal Corps.
The flat bail on the Ulster make's it easy to spot...the other EO is a Imperial U.S.A.

Elbertson your right on the sheath's, the black tip had a 1975 knife in it...this other sheath with the anodized tip
had a 1970 knife...notice the different length's of metal on the back side...I suppose to help stiffen it up.

Not many here collect military knives so I am glad you are showing these to the handfull of us who like them

Here is a Camillus U.S.M.C. fighting knife WWII era unused with the pinned on pommel.

I also have the original sewn and stapled sheath

That's an excellent example Dimitri...
I understand that original leather sheath's in good condition are scarce.
All of mine so far are USN marked...so I need some USMC knives (don't want the Marine's mad at me)..!

Bob, I had to laugh at that. I'm in the process of getting some of my military collection photographed, and ran across one I got from a friend some years ago. He was a marine, but the knife is marked "USN." When I asked him about it, he said the leather handles rotted off the knives but a replacement was as close as the nearest sailor.

Just picked up this Camillus 1968 Military folder

Bottom knife is a Imperial (I just showed this because I didnt know Imperial made these also).

Camillus, Imperial, and Kingston made them--as did Ulster, Stevenson, and some others, but I've not seen any of those.

Thanks coffee, I only saw the Camillus ones until I came across the Imperial and I havent see any of the others either. I will be on the look out for them tho.

Gino, right now there are 2 Kingston's and a Stevenson on eBay; it might be worth a look just to familiarize yourself with them. Both makers marked the knives on the bail, so if someone did the common modification and removed the bail, we don't know who made the knife.

All the Kingston's I've had were marked "U.S. MARINE CORPS" on the side; as a result, I don't have them any more. I know too darn many WWII marines, and so far I've been talked out of every one of them.

I added another MK 1 to the herd this weekend...Camillus USN marked, sheath is also marked...I hope it's orginial, it looks to be.
The stamp is small...Cole's book say's it's a first model, the blade appears blued and has a different profile...handle is 1/4" shorter.

That's two model's...only five more to go...

Anyway I'll keep showing mine...This is my latest find, a Mark 3...the blade is almost mint, but the leather handle
is starting to deteriorate...the rot is setting in and don't know if anything can be done, advice on this would be
much appreciated.

Single blade version.
