All About Pocket Knives

Anyone know anything about this Camillus knife??

Blade is etched Santa Fe Stoneworks.

The tang is stamped Camillus, underlined, New York U.S.A.

The front handle is pieces of metallic stone? the backside is wood. They are glued on not pinned.

The company is in New Mexico , the Camillus pattern is a #2 i believe ,Ive seen quite a few of those done like that in different patterns.They also do other brands of knives also like Buck and Schrade thats about all i can tell you

I am not very familiar with Santa Fe Stoneworks, but the ones I have seen vary in price.
I don't recall seeing one that had only been worked on one side.
You might check some of their current similar works and see how they are pricing them.
That might give you a rough idea.

I had a small Camillus lockback and another identical small lockback marked Sears Craftsman USA (obviously made by Camillus also) that were exactly like your Santa Fe Stoneworks Camillus lockback MB. The only difference between those and yours was they both had the wood handles like yours on both sides that were glued on, no pins shown anywhere on the knives. Camillus used to show the middle pin or back spring pin on their knives even when they didn't have handle pins when the handles were glued on. Maybe they stopped showing the middle pin and only glued the handles on to help cut productions costs?

I don`t know much about this stoneworks company. I am assuming they bought these knives unfinished,no handles, and then glued the handles on themselves.

I can`t see them buying knives with handles on them and then having to take them off and put their own ones on. Seem like a waste of time and money to me.

I can say one thing the quality of this Camillus is very low, the spring sticks up when the blade is open, the blade grind is rough, the bolsters are not finished well and the pivot pin is visable and is up above the bolster.

Maybe Santa Fe was buying the factory seconds, cheap

We made them special versions of our knives in a condition where they could assemble on their handles & finish the knives.

I think this ad is from the first half of the 90s. Looking at this I remembered two more knives from my collection

If you only have one I guess that one will do. Out side of fabulous blade and awesome handle what led you to get it. Wow!

Actually I let Anna Wirtel one of the business owners pick it out for me - I asked Anna for her idea of a knife that was quintessentially Santa Fe and that’s what she went with. They shipped it home for me since I was flying and the leather slip was a most welcomed gift.
