A. G. Russell's Knife Event 2010

Last Sunday, Aug. 8th, my wife and I drove over to Rogers, Ark. to attend the A. G. Russell's Knife Event 2010. Of course the main reason I wanted to attend was in the listing of manufacturers who were committed to have booths at the show was Great Eastern Cutlery!

After spotting the booth we walked right up and who's attending the booth? None other then Ken Daniels himself! After saying hello and talking a few minutes, I've got to tell you Ken is a very nice gentleman. Not only did he patiently listen to me rave over how great I thought GEC knives were and some of the models I owned, he talked some about his family and the company.

After a while my wife said that we ought to buy Jacob, our six year old Grandson, a knife, at which I said I really wanted to wait until he was a few years older, say around eight years old. So while I was picking out a knife for myself to purchase, Mr. Daniels hands my wife a single blade Tidioute Barlow, 251109 with Bocote Wood, and says, if we don't mind, he'd like to start Jacob out right with his first knife! After offering to buy the knife out right, he declined and said it was something he'd like to do. Wow! After recovering from this wonderful gesture, I picked out a four blade UN-X-LD Congress, 610410 with snake wood handles.

Jacob loves the knife, which he only gets to hold so far at our house, and since the back spring is so tight, he won't be able to open it by himself for at least a couple of years. Please see the pictures below.

Thanks again Ken Daniels for making this day so special for all of us.

bloomingeek Gr8 story about Ken and you and your wife at the show. For Jacob or you, perhaps you should wright a leter that Mr. Ken Daniels gave Jacob that knife to start him out right and have it signed by Ken. That leter could be worth more than the knife some day....LOL

I'm not as good a storyteller, but his son Ryan gave my daughter
a kryptonite stockman at the BLADE show a few years ago, and I had
not made any purchase, the knives were bigger than I liked.
Boy has that changed ::ds::
Anyways, at the nkca show, Ken always pays
for the kids to renew membership, thus allowing
free entry. can't wait until MArch, looking forward
to some ebony northfields!!!

Wow. I am so loving this walk back through time ...

What a great gentleman. How great a contribution did he make, with the impression and smiles he just gave to everyone who hears this story?

Some folks really come by great gifts naturally ... (in this case, I am of course referring to Ken)

Great story, great gesture. I like this guy.
