I need some ideas for replacing a handle on a 6464 med Boker Congress (german). One side is red bone and in good shape the other side has no handle at all, this knife will be just a carry knife and my first attempt at replacing a handle. I work with wood and have some oak, walnut and some other hard wood, and looks are not really an issue. Any ideas on my two buck find? :D

Personal preference here:
I prefer bone or stag for a small user knife.
I love wood on larger knives, but if you want to see some grain you almost need some burl or a dense close grained wood like ebony or cocobolo for a small knife.
IMHO, walnut, oak & maple are too soft for most knife applications, unless stabilized.
