All About Pocket Knives

Hi everyone. I haven't posted here in too long. I let my pocket knife lust fade but I'm back now.

I went yard sailing this morning. Stopped at one that had a few tools and fishing gear so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask - "you wouldn't have any knives you'd like to sell, would ya?"

The older gentlemen went in and came out with a small display case of very beat up old Sheffields, German Eye's and a couple Case knives worn to a nub.

I asked about a full size German Eye Trapper but he wanted $40 and it was more than I was looking to spend. I spotted one wrapped in the original paper. In it was a small Case.

I asked what he was looking to get and his answer was $15. I was a bit shocked to find a Case for that price still in the original paper so I didn't haggle and gave him the $15. It wasn't til I got home that I noticed that the pen blade looks like it was tipped.

There is no model number on it but it is stamped CASE Tested XX with the long tail C. If someone here could ID it I'd appreciate it. Letting me know I didn't over-pay would help too.

What is the length closed?

A close up of the tang stamp would help, any cracks in the bone?

Great find. I don't see how you can go wrong for $15 for any Case, especially of that vintage. That ought to be enough to get the knife collecting blood pumping again.

You did fine, I would have snapped it up myself.

Thanks a ton everyone. I really appreciate it. This past week I've been reminded twice that my love of traditional pocket knives shouldn't have been allowed to die out like it did over that past year or so.

The Case was the second part of my lucky spell. At the beach last Sunday I found a near mint Camillus 883 Medium Stockman with Delrin stag, angled bolsters and dual shields.

The knife gods have smiled on me. I'm beginning to worry that my rubber band may snap at any moment and my luck will take a turn for the worse

Nice little knife. I'd have bought it too, and I don't know Case from Shinola.
I doubt the paper and the knife go together, though. I see the tang stamp as "Case / Tested XX" and the paper has a zip code in the Bradford address. I think Zip Codes started in 1960.

Actually Charlie I think it was 1965.Nice knife by the way;and a good price.

Just to set the record straight on 5 digit zip codes ..... USPS officially started using the 5 digit zip codes on July 1, 1963.

Just a tid bit of info I can remember for some strange reason.

Looks like a 6233, if closed lenght is 2 5/8". Just a guess, great find you lucky dog.

Yep. 2 5/8" and confirmed a 6233 on another forum. I figured that there was some wear and it was used that the paper was probably not original. It'd have been nice though.
