All About Pocket Knives

Thought I'd share these with the group. This handle has really grown on me. When I first got them, I wasn't too fond of it, but it looks better to me now than it did then.



I'll get some more pics up in a couple days. I have several Bulldogs with various celluloid handles. The're pretty while they last.

The only celluloid knife I have is of the broken chain variety. The handle is intriguing, I catch myself staring into it for minutes at a time. I have had other celluloid knives and gotten rid of them, but this one is a keeper.

I was under the impression that broken-chain was a composite, not celluloid?

I'm wondering if makers (and sellers) are calling celluloid handles "composite" to
avoid the bad reputation of celluloid?
The only way that I've heard of telling the diff is to rub the handle briskly to see
if you can smell something like camphor.

I have not done any of that brisk rubbing to detect a camphor smell, but I am pretty sure this is celluloid. I figure that some may call celluloid by "composite" or "composition" to try to stay away from the "celluloid" name, but it is what it is regardless of what you call it. I would think if it was an epoxy or phenolic or acrylic material, the seller would be quick to say so rather than the more generic term.
