Case TEsted XX Knife WIth Arrowhead Logo Need Info pls

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what era this was from,I am thinking 1920-1940.If there is a model number or any other identifying infomration.It seems to be in prety good condition, no cracks or chips in handle, blade just has some darkening (oxidation??) on it, no rust, it is about 10 1/4" long,and the blade is 5" and seems thin.What about value of this knife? I have someone who wants to buy it.but not sure if it is worth more than they are offering,Any help appreciated as I know nothing about knives. It is marked Case Tested Xx on one side of the balde, no dots.and sil xx on the other side.

Hi Char,
That shield was used from the mid 10's to the mid 20's. With that shield in combination with the tang stamp I would say that your knife was manufactured in the early 1920's. It's a 6151 L SAB model by my estimation... As for value... I looked it up in Jim Seargent's American Premium Guide to Knives and Razors 6th edition and found a tested era 6151L SAB green bone listed for $1,200.

I believe that pattern, 5 1/4" single bladed lockopen, was also known as a Hobo. It looks like it was only made in Pearl, Imitation Onyx, and Greenbone, in that time period. If I remember a story correctly, Case called anything that wasn't RED bone.....Greenbone. So it might not really look very green to you....

Great looking knife,
but don't get to excited about the price just yet. Given todays market you may see more for it in the right venue.
The condition could be better though and it would take a first hand evaluation to determine all the appropriate things first. Nice knife and certainly worth a high dollar do doubt. The Case people are all drolling right now!!!!!!
