All About Pocket Knives

Hello to all. I am brand new to the forum, and am seeking information about a Cattaraugus pocket knife that I have. It has, on one side of the blade, "Cattaraugus Cutlery Co. Little Valley N.Y.", and, on the other side, the number 21419.

I am posting pictures to better describe the knife.

One blade is a combined bottle opener/fork, and the other is a clipped-point knife blade.

Can anyone comment on the collector's value (or lack thereof) of this knife?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Clockdoc. Very warm welcome to the site . I'm sure someone here will be able to answer your question re collectors' value. My only concern would be that you need two of these to eat your meal properly s-k

this knife probably comes apart to make two seperate eating tools. collector value high.

Thanks to Smiling-Knife and Stockman for their responses. Excellent point S-K. Perhaps one was intended to hunt with one utensil and eat with the other.

In response to Stockman, the knife does not appear to disassemble. If it does the means has been well disguised.

Does it have a brass liner going down the center to seperate the blade and fork?
Frist one I have seen made by Catt.

Good morning 9Ball. Yes, there are two-strips of brass between the knife blade and the fork. Blades are approximately 3 inches long.

From a bit of research.....

The 21419 (Diner's knife/Teardrop Jack) should be 3 3/4" long (closed), with bone handles. It is also listed in some places as "Take Apart"...so it should come apart in the style of a "Slot" knife. Open both utensils and see if there is a tab/slot inside where they can be separated.

The "Books" value range seems to be from $350-$400, if it were mint.

Others, who are better at older knives, may have more for you. In any event, it's a neat piece.

Thanks to the tips from Stockman and 9Ball, I determined that this knife separates from the fork, thus solving the dilemma expressed by S-K.
