All About Pocket Knives

Was up in Southern Missouri last week and stumbled across this little darling. Actually my wife saw it and told me about it. So my brother in law and I went and rescued it.











Those bone scales are dead sexy in my mind. Punch is a tad short, but it is tight as drum and snaps like a trap.

I know he was an importer, but this one sure looks American made to me.

I started to take a pic of the price tag and post it too. Figgered I better not. Somebody might accuse me of taking advantage of an old widow woman.

I will say it was one of the BEST buys I've made in several years.

I got an old Case , Bradford "office knife" and a pretty much unused PUMA 970 PLAINSMAN at that place too.

I can see why it was thought at one time that Robeson made knives for Clay. That supposition was debunked a year or so ago in a KnifeWorld article. Apparently, they had their own factory.

There is a more detailed article by C. David Pierce in the Nov. 08 Knife World. One main discrepancy is that Clay Jordan, was A.J.'s nephew, not his brother.

No "ST LOUIS" anywhere on mine and no discernible stamp at all on the punch.

I think my old jack, and both the Clay's pictured sure look like they came from Platt's lineage. They all appear to have the same shield and very similar jigging.

I got this A.J.Jordan recently and I thought it should be on this old thread because of the other interesting posts on it.

It's 4 1/4". Main blade well used and it looks like some one left blood? at the tang. (for lack of a better description)
That defect kept the price low. The secondary blade looks unsharpend. Mighty snappy.

Joe Dirt had a thread about fileing the kick down on a blade. I wonder if he'll chime in?

Thanks Alan, I like it very much. I also got a Case belt sheath recently and the Jordan fits in it perfectly.

Great knife Joe! Seeing this thread again, reminded me of these tweezers we got a while back. They were too cool to pass up.
